YEAR 9 CAMP

Year 9's Unforgettable Adventure at Camp Somerset!

Our Year 9 students recently embarked on an incredible journey to Camp Somerset on the scenic Colo River, returning with tales of independence, teamwork, and newfound resilience. It was a week packed with unique challenges, from setting up their own campsites to tackling thrilling outdoor activities.

Life at Camp Somerset was designed to foster self-reliance and showing a willingness to give new things a go. Students quickly became experts at setting up their campsites, creating a home away from home. The boys were also in charge of preparing their own meals including slow cooked rotisserie chicken, homemade pizzas and a My Kitchen Rules challenge.

The stunning Colo River provided the perfect backdrop for a range of exciting adventures. Students navigated the waterways during canoeing sessions with some being more effective than others. Heights were conquered as they bravely took on both abseiling and rock climbing.

One of the most talked-about events was the challenging River Run, a true test of endurance and collaboration that saw students navigating obstacles and working together to reach the finish line. Initially many were not happy about diving into the mud, but soon ended up trying to get muddier than their mates.

Beyond the thrilling activities, Camp Somerset proved to be a powerful environment for personal growth. Strong new bonds were formed as students relied on each other, shared responsibilities, and celebrated their collective successes.

A huge congratulations to all our Year 9 students for their fantastic attitude and impressive achievements at Camp Somerset. We are incredibly proud of their growth and the strong community spirit they demonstrated throughout the camp.

On behalf of the students of Year 9 , I would like to thank the teacher staff who volunteered to take time away from their families to help provide the students with this wonderful experience.
