Br Patrick Lovegrove Cup

Holy Cross College, Ryde 3/136 def. Patrician Brother’s College, Blacktown 4/133.

The Brother Patrick Lovegrove Cup took place for the first time since Covid. It was a pleasure for Holy Cross to host Patrician Brother’s Blacktown at Monash Oval on a glorious Thursday afternoon.

Blacktown won the toss and elected to bat. Josh Hardiman and Ryan Moller were accurate with the new ball and managed to break through with some early wickets to leave Blacktown reeling at 3/13. However, Blacktown responded with an impressive partnership of 92 that saw them put the pressure back on the Holy Cross bowling and fielding. Some tight bowling at the death saw Blacktown post a final total of 4/133 off their 20 overs.

Holy Cross made an aggressive start with the bat and were able to punish some wayward bowling from Blacktown. Despite losing a few wickets, Holy Cross were able to chase down the target in the 10th over. Top scorers with the bat were Noah Golds (35), Tanishq Shah (25) and our Year 8 debutant Tej Shah (21*) was able to steer the team home.

Most importantly, the game was played in a tremendous spirit, with both teams demonstrating what it means to be a Patrician school. Brother Pat was kept up to date on the result and was delighted to hear that both schools were able to play against each other again. Holy Cross wishes Pats Blacktown all the best for their upcoming season.
